Standing waves on a string

The movie illustrates the first four modes for standing waves on a string of length L; the modes have frequencies ω = n π c / L where c is the wave speed for the string and n is a positive integer.

Notes

As n increases the number of spatial oscillations also increases.

As n increases the frequency ω also increases and the standing wave oscillates more rapidly.
