Handout #1: Fourier Analysis
1.
put in column A the numbers 0, .1 .2 .3
......... 12.7
put in column B the sin of the number in column A
put in column C (the sin of [the number in column A * 3]) / 3
put in column D (the sin of [the number in column A * 5]) / 5
put in column E (the sin of [the number in column A * 7]) / 7
put in column F (the sin of [the number in column A * 9]) / 9
Add together across columns B - F and put the answers in
column G
Draw a graph of column G again column A (column A being the x values)
Now add 2.1 to every value in col. B and put this value in col. H
add 4.2 to every value in column C and put this value in col. I
add 6.3 to every value in column D and put this value in col.
J
add 8.4 to every value in column E and put this value in col.
K
add 10.5 to every value in column F and put this value in col. L
Now plot columns G - L on the same graph
2.
Now change the values in column C.
put into this column (the sin of [the number in column A * - 3]) /
3 (the difference from what you did before is just the minus sign)
The values in column I should change automatically.
Now plot columns G - L on another graph
