EMPLOYMENT

Present position:
Lecturer in French, Department of European & International Studies, Loughborough University (since 1986)

Previous experience:
1983-84: Lector at the Ecole Normale Supérieure, Saint-Cloud, France (Aggrégation level).
1979-80: Assistant English teacher at Marl Comprehensive, W. Germany (age group: 11-16).
Jan-July 1977: Assistant English teacher at the Collège d'Enseignement Secondaire Mathurin Régnier, Chartres, France (age group: 11-16).


EDUCATION

1977-81:
The Queen's College, Oxford:

· B.A. Hons. in French and German (First Class, with Distinction in the French Oral Examination)
· Awarded Hastings Exhibition by Queen's College
· Distinction in Preliminary Examinations, 1978
· Queen's College Benefactors' Prize, 1979

1981-86:
University of Sussex:

· 1981-82: M.A. in French Studies; Dissertation on 'The 'contradictions' in the marxism of Georges Sorel', supervised by T. B. Bottomore.
· 1982-86: D.Phil.: 'The Response of the French Anarchist Movement to the Russian Revolution (1917-24) and to the Spanish Revolution and Civil War (1936-39)', supervised by Professor H. R. Kedward, examined by Professor Siân Reynolds & Dr. John Horne.
