The CoMem (Corporate Memory) project looked at how content from previous building design projects
could be reused in new projects. It combined elements of
information visualisation, information retrieval and
human-computer interaction. The project was for my
PhD and has since been published as a book.
The presentation below gives a
good summary, entitled
"CoMem: a people-centred computer environment for design reuse "
presented at a
workshop of the Institute for People-Centred Computation (IPCC)
in Bristol on 2 May 2007. Below that, there is a screen capture
recording.
.
The screen capture recording below is of the CoMem Java
prototype developed and evaluated during the PhD. It has
no audio. To read more about this research, look at the
publications listed in the
publications page, or read the full
doctoral dissertation
published by CIFE. CoMem was
deployed in an "interactive workspace" as described in
a paper in the Special Issue of AI EDAM on Support for
Design Teams.
The presentation below was given to the
Structures Research Seminar at
Cambridge University
Engineering Department on 9 May 2008. It includes
slides on an earlier project at Cambridge University on
prestressed concrete design.
