Investigating policy impacts on school travel - PhD Thesis now available

The PhD Thesis of Jessica van Ristell about the impact of policy on school travel is now available here. Jessica is now developing this work further through a year-long EPSRC KTA funded project in partnership with JMP Consultants. She is the fifth PhD student to have completed his studies under the supervision of Dr Marcus Enoch (28/11/2011).

PhD Thesis on policy change in the transport sector in National Parks now available

Joe Kendal's PhD thesis on policy change in the transport sector in UK National Parks is now available here. Joe is the fourth PhD student to have completed his studies under the supervision of Dr Marcus Enoch (15/9/2011).

 

School travel and parking projects now underway

Two new projects - on modelling school travel options and examining the impacts of car parking spaces - are set to begin. Both are funded by EPSRC funds allocated through Loughborough University, which amounts to roughly £70,000 in total (15/9/2011).

TRAVEL PLAN PLUS final results now available

Final results from the TRAVEL PLAN PLUS project are now available. Outputs include a series of best practice guides for practitioners and policy makers, a distance learning short course, and four portfolios - one for each implementation site - which contain highly detailed information about how to implement local travel plan networks.

TRAVEL PLAN PLUS was a 30-month €1m IEE STEER project which aimed to spread the concept of Local Travel Plan Networks across Europe that officially finished at the end of April 2011. It was led by Dr Marcus Enoch of Loughborough University.

MEGAPROJECT to start Spring 2011

COST Action MEGAPROJECT is to start in Spring 2011. Led by Loughborough University colleague professor Naomi Brookes, the £340,000 project aims to bring together multi-disciplinary researchers from across COST Countries to tackle the issues of megaproject design and delivery. The Action will produce immediate guidelines to influence practice and a framework to guide future decisions on resourcing EU research in megaproject design and delivery.  (17/12/2010).

EPSRC project Developing Research Tools for Demand Responsive Transport now has a website at www.drtfordrt.org.uk (14/11/2010).

 

DRT for DRT project to start in July 2010

Developing Research Tools for Demand Responsive Transport is a new EPSRC project that will kick off in July 2010. The £372,000 three year project will be led by colleague Dr Tim Ryley and also involves Dr Mohammed Quddus and Dr Lisa Davison. It will seek to investigate the potential role of DRT systems at the UK level (14/6/2010).

 

PhD Thesis on park-and-ride available

Stuart Meek's PhD thesis on bus-based park-and-ride in the UK is available here. Stuart is to graduate in July 2010 and is the third student supervised by Dr Marcus Enoch (14/6/2010).

 

Lunch & Lecture @ Loughborough

Stephen Joseph, the director of the Campaign for Better Transport will be one of the speakers at Session 11 of the Lunch and Lecture @ Loughborough seminar series that will take place on Friday 5 November 2010. Session 12 will take place on Friday 3 December 2010 - see the L+L@L website.  

These will form lectures in the Transport Policy and Planning module (14/6/2010).

 

TRAVEL PLAN PLUS Workshop on 30 November 2010

Findings from the research project TRAVEL PLAN PLUS on setting up and operating local travel plan networks are to be presented at a workshop in Cambridge on 30 November 2010. Further information will be made available shortly.

TRAVEL PLAN PLUS Forum now open

Expertise on local travel plan networks can now be easily shared, thanks to the new TRAVEL PLAN PLUS project forum at the European Community for Mobility Management website at www.allinx.eu.

The 30-month  €1m project – which seeks to spread the concept of Local Travel Plan Networks across Europe –  is funded by the EACI IEE STEER Programme of the European Commission and began in November 2008.

The project is led by Dr Marcus Enoch (Principal Investigator), Professor Stephen Ison, Dr Lisa Davison and Chris Carter of Loughborough University (UK), and will involve local authority partners from Bages (ES), Gyor (HU), Stockholm (SWE), Cambridgeshire (UK) and consultant Mobycon (NL).

DRT PhD Thesis now available

The PhD thesis 'Evaluating Publicly Funded DRT Schemes in England and Wales' by Dr Rebecca Laws is now available here. Rebecca graduated in July 2009 and is the second student supervised by Dr Marcus Enoch (26/10/2009).


Local Travel Plan Network State-of-the-Art Reports launched

A series of reports on the State-of-the-Art of travel plan networks is now available after being approved by the Intelligent Energy Europe Secretariat.

These include a report based on in-depth interviews with a number of mobility management experts from across the world and a literature review on the status of Local Travel Plan Networks. In addition, a report on the use of policy transfer theory and a draft implementation guide which will be used by the TRAVEL PLAN PLUS partners to form a final guide at the end of the project. The reports will be published as soon as they have been approved by the Secretariat.

Enoch now Chartered Member of the CILT

Marcus Enoch has now been upgraded to be a Chartered Member of the CILT - the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport. He had been an ordinary member for two years previously (26/8/2009).


Blueprint for UK Travel Plans completed

Two final reports for the Department for Transport through the National Business Travel Network have now been published. Expert perspectives on the past, present and future of travel plans in the UK and Mainstreaming travel plans in the UK: Policy proposals for Government, set out the current state of travel plans in the UK and suggest a series of policy proposals to improve their effectiveness.
