Special
Session on
Multispectral and Hyperspectral Image
and Video Processing
Recent advances in imaging and
computer hardware technology have led to an explosion in the use of
multispectral, hyperspectral, and in particular, color images/video in
a variety of fields including agriculture, ecology, geology, medicine,
meteorology, mining, and oceanography. As a result, automated
processing and analysis of multichannel images/video has become an
active area of research, which is witnessed by the large number of
publications during the past two decades. The multivariate nature of
visual data presents new challenges for researchers and practitioners
as the numerous methods developed for single channel images/video are
often not directly applicable to multichannel images/video.
The goal of this special session is
to bring together researchers and practitioners working in the area of
color, multispectral, and hyperspectral image and video processing. We
are soliciting original contributions, which address a wide range of
theoretical and practical issues including, but not limited to:
- Coding and Compression
- Sampling and Interpolation
- Fusion
- Filtering and Enhancement
- Morphology
- Edge Detection and Segmentation
- Feature Extraction
- Indexing and Retrieval
- Applications and Future Trends
Paper submission
Prospective authors are invited to
submit papers of no more than 10 pages including results, figures and
references. In submitting a manuscript to ICIAR 2011, the authors
acknowledge that no paper substantially similar in content has been or
will be submitted to another conference during the ICIAR 2011 review
period. All papers will appear in the conference proceedings, which
will be published by Springer-Verlag in the Lecture Notes in Computer
Science (LNCS) series. Authors of selected papers will be invited to
submit an extended version of their papers to the Multispectral and
Hyperspectral Image and Video Processing special issue of EURASIP
Journal on Advances in Signal Processing.
Important dates
- Submission of full-length papers: January 24, 2011
- Notification of acceptance: February 28, 2011
- Submission of camera-ready papers: March 18, 2011
