Power Point, a concept device designed by Jon Ardern a student of the
Royal College of Art, aims to "change patterns of power use by
creating awareness of how much power individual appliance draws. Leading
users to re-evaluate how they consume power"[1]
Each power socket would feature a simple display showing
the amount of power being consumed at any given time in a very clear,
visible and direct way.
Utilising a technology called X10, which enables communication among
electronic devices, information about patterns of power consumption
would be sent through the existing power cables to a central database.
