Based on technology developed for military applications, the JawboneTM mobile phone headset constantly adjusts and enhances audio quality for clearer communications reducing the need to shout to be audible or strain to hear.

Utilising intelligent sensors, software and ergonomic features, it gathers information about the user’s speech and acoustic environment. It detects the user’s speech patterns via a voice activity sensor located adjacent to the cheek and enhances audio quality by subtracting background noise from this speech signal.

The JawboneTM "allows you to use your mobile phone in any environment without shouting or straining to hear"[1].

Though not explicitly marketed with the intent of reducing annoyance caused by individuals who shout into their phones in public, the JawboneTM features automatically eliminate many of the common factors which may contribute to a raised voice.
