The Australian designed and manufactured Hughie Sink is a water saving
device which fits over the sink capturing water used to wash the hands
or clean vegetables. It can also be placed in the shower to catch water
discarded whilst the temperature is set and submerged in the bath to
collect used bathwater by removing and then replacing the stopper. As
shown in the picture (bottom right), the collected water can be reused
to water plants in the garden.
The Hughie comes in a variety of colours and
is made from environmentally friendly biodegradable plastic. It holds up
to seven litres of water and costs around $25.
This device was chosen as the overall winner
of the first national awards recognising Australia's outstanding water
saving products or services.
