“Energy is invisible. But it doesn‘t have to be. Put people in control by giving them the tools to monitor their own energy use. Studies show that if people can see what they’re using, they use up to 15% less energy” [1].

The Home Monitoring Display concept was developed in response to 'Future Currents', a project run by the RED Unit at the Design Council to reduce domestic energy consumption and C02 emissions. This concept aims to “let you see what's wasting your energy (and your money!)”.

"A display in the kitchen shows you when the kids have turned on the TV upstairs, what's wasted through leaving the video on standby and whether the oven uses more energy than the microwave. Work out when's the best time to run the washing machine and monitor your energy use in real time" [1].
