The Sahara Eco-shower, designed by Peter
Brewin of the Royal College of Art, works on similar principles to a
Dyson vacuum cleaner, using filters and hydro cyclones, installed behind
the shower unit, to clean the recycled water and reheat it to the
desired temperature thereby reducing waste.
The user can pause the water flow until it reaches an adequate
temperature and monitor the volume of water used per shower using an
eco-feedback water meter.
The Sahara Eco-shower won the British Standards Institution Environmental Design Award in
2005.
