The Building Dashboard, designed
by Lucid Design Group, is a web-based display technology that provides
real-time feedback on resource use. Electricity, water and natural gas
consumption, as well as solar electricity production, solar thermal
production, rainwater use and grey water recycling can be displayed.
Users can instantly
compare their building's energy and water use with other buildings, or
launch a competition to challenge friends and co-workers to reduce their
consumption.

Energy use can be instantly converted into dollars spent or
equivalent number of lightbulbs used.
Water
use can be expressed in bottles of water and minutes of shower use –
either per person or for the entire building.
Users can check their current
consumption or look at consumption patterns over time.
|
Unique combinations of
building-by-building or floor-by-floor comparisons, timescales and
unit equivalents allow the user to view resource use in a variety of
ways. “Real-time feedback
provided by Building Dashboard® has been used to effectively reduce
consumption on the order of 10-56%” [1].
The Building
Dashboard can also provides live weather conditions and daily forecasts,
community events calendars and green tips for effectively reducing
consumption.
